Once all the strategy workshops, ideas, post-it notes and white boarding is completed, the hard work starts in order to make your aspirations a reality.

We adopt a holistic view of implementation by including the need to address the aspects of people, resources, structure, systems, and culture. All of these components must be in place in order to move from creating the strategy to activating the strategy.

Additionally, the importance of risk is often forgotten about in the strategic development and implementation process. Therefore in parallel to strategy, we conduct a risk assessment to identify and define treatment plans for anything that might prevent your strategy from becoming a success.


Governance is:

“…the framework of rules, relationships, systems and processes within which authority is exercised and controlled. It encompasses the mechanisms by which those in control are held to account.”

Governance influences how the strategic objectives of the organisation are set and achieved, how risk is monitored and assessed, and how performance is optimised. Therefore it is surprising how many organisations do not have a working governance framework established.

Asset Management

We often confuse ‘Managing Assets’ with ‘Asset Management’, adopting a product focus yet neglecting the systems that support that product.

Quintessential applies a systems thinking approach to asset management, whether the ISO55001 standard specifically or its broad principles. The systems thinking approach helps to embed the necessary practices and behaviours in a holistic and progressive manner. This approach avoids the need to impose large-scale step change in preference to making iterative small adjustments until the desired outcome is achieved.

Our approach supports the development of behaviours and mindsets necessary for successful asset management. It ultimately cultivates a culture shift from ‘managing assets’ to the more holistic approach of ‘asset management’.
